AFRICANEWSWEB, then known as AFRICA 22 WEB first went to press on 12 June 1998. It was the first electronic news bulletin in Africa. The new domain name came into force in November 2006 following the realisation that many other news agencies were using Africanewsweb as a title for their homepage or bulletin. The new title reflects better the fact that the sources of the news and the publication are in Africa.

AFRICA 22 WEB, publishes regular news, features, press reviews and editorials. It is the initiative of Koinonia Community, a not-for-profit development organisation based in Nairobi, Kenya.

AFRICA 22 WEB strives to promote peace, justice,human rights and poverty alleviation through the use of modern Information and Communication Technologies

All the articles published in AFRICA 22 WEB are written from the perspective of the African grassroots people, their struggle for freedom, dignity and justice.
