The government of Senegal has proposed to establish an embassy in Ghana to rekindle the long exiting relationship between the two countries. He said the Senegalese government has observed that both countries have something in common; hence, there is the need to strengthen their bilateral relationship.
 The Senegalese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Bella Mandaw Dia said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Information, Zita Okaikoi in Accra.
According to the Ambassador, his government would need the support of Ghana to achieve the goals of the African Union Government which had been the dream of Ghana’s first President, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah many years ago.
Adding, the founding father of Ghana played a huge role in the emancipation of the African continent and black race however his desire of Union Government of Africa has still been long overdue “but we have to make sure it materialize in order to acknowledge the struggles that Africa founding fathers laid for our generation.”
Ambassador Dia extended invitation to Ghanaians for the Cultural Festival to be held in December at Senegal.
The Information Minister on her part reiterated Ghana’s stand on the African Union Government but expressed her dissatisfaction with the current incident in Guinea Bissau and perceived it as an affront to democracy.
“The government and people of Ghana will continue to work with the people of Senegal and also the entire continent,” Okaikoi said.
The Minister expressed the desire of her ministry to work with the media, adding that, an agenda has been set to meet editors of the various media houses to discuss the ways and means of strengthening Ghana’s democracy.
The Ambassador extended his government’s congratulations to the President and the entire Ghanaian public for going through a successful election.
